意味はほぼ同じ「〜の間」。違いは後ろに来るものだけです。during +名詞(during the meeting)、while +文(while we were talking)。品詞の問題であって、意味の問題ではありません。
They mean nearly the same thing — "in that span of time." The difference is purely what follows: during + noun (during the meeting), while + clause (while we were talking). It's a grammar-slot question, not a meaning question.

during は前置詞なので、後ろは名詞のかたまり(the movie / my stay / lunch)。while は接続詞なので、後ろは主語+動詞の文です。「会議中に」なら during the meeting、「私たちが話している間に」なら while we were talking。言いたい内容がどちらの形か、だけ見れば選べます。
During is a preposition, so it takes a noun chunk: the movie, my stay, lunch. While is a conjunction, so it takes a subject and a verb. "During the meeting": noun. "While we were talking": clause. Look at the shape of what you want to say, and the choice makes itself.

よくある間違い / Common Mistake
×During I was sleeping, it started to rain.
私が寝ている間に、雨が降り出した。(のつもりで)
○While I was sleeping, it started to rain.
私が寝ている間に、雨が降り出した。
during の後ろに文は置けません。文をつなぐのは接続詞の while です。逆に while +名詞だけ(while the meeting)も原則不可。ただし while in Paris(パリにいる間)のような、I was が省略された形には出会います。
During can't take a clause; that's while's job. The reverse holds too: "while the meeting" doesn't work. You will meet while + phrase — while in Paris — where "I was" has been politely dropped.
during the day日中は「昼」という期間の箱を外から指す。The daytime box, pointed at from outside.
while you're at itついでに「それをしている間に(こっちも)」という依頼の定番。"While you're doing that anyway…" — the classic add-on request.
in the meantimeその間に「2つの出来事のあいだの時間に」。文頭で使う仲間の表現。A cousin: the time between two events, usually opening a sentence.
