a と one の違い A or One?
冠詞 Articles
どちらも「1つ」。でも a はただの「とある1つ」の目印、one は「2つでも3つでもなく1つ」と数を主張する言葉です。数がポイントの場面だけ one を使います。
Both mean one thing — but a is just the "some one of them" marker, while one insists on the number: one, not two or three. Reach for one only when the count is the point.

I have a brother. は「兄弟がいる」という紹介です。I have one brother. は「兄弟は1人(2人じゃなく)」という人数の報告。a を選ぶか one を選ぶかで、聞き手が受け取る話の焦点が変わります。
I have a brother introduces him. I have one brother answers a counting question — one, not two. Choosing a or one quietly tells your listener what the sentence is really about.

よくある間違い Common Mistake
I bought one new phone yesterday.
昨日、新しいスマホを買った。(ただの報告のつもりで)
I bought a new phone yesterday.
昨日、新しいスマホを買った。
ただ「買った」と伝えたいだけなら a です。one を使うと「2台じゃなく1台ね」と数を確認するニュアンスが出て、聞き手は「なぜ台数の話?」と引っかかります。
If you're just sharing the news, it's a new phone. Say one new phone and listeners hear a count — "one, mind you, not two" — and wonder why the number matters.

Set Phrases Built on One
- one day いつか・ある日 「いつとは言わないが、ある1日」。物語や願望の定番で、ここは a day と交換できない慣用。 Some unspecified day — a set phrase for stories and hopes. You can't swap in "a day."
- one of the ... 〜のうちの1つ 集団の中から1つ取り出して数える型。だから one。 Picking one out of a group is counting — so one.
- at one point ある時点で 時間軸の上の1点、という目盛りのイメージ。 A single tick on the timeline — the ruler image again.
