A nice old wooden box — adjectives line up in a fixed order: opinion → size → age → shape → color → origin → material → purpose. Native speakers don't memorize the table; the wrong order simply sounds wrong to them. And since real sentences rarely stack more than two or three, there's no need to fear the full list.
One principle drives the whole order: the more subjective the adjective, the farther from the noun; the more objective, the closer. Nice (opinion — subjective) → old (age) → wooden (material — objective). Material and purpose are close to what the thing is, so they hug the noun; opinions hang on the outside. Learn the one-way street and you can skip the table.

wooden・leather・sleeping(bag)——物の正体。名詞に密着。Wooden, leather, sleeping (bag) — what it is. Hugging the noun.
Putting fact (material) outside and opinion inside drives the wrong way down the one-way street — natives feel the jolt immediately. You'll still be understood, so it's not fatal; just keep the direction: opinions out, identity in.
a nice little ...感じのいい小さな〜評価+大きさの最頻ペア。a nice little restaurant(いい感じの小さな店)。Opinion + size, the most frequent pair: a nice little restaurant.
