if 文に分解しても意味は近いですが、「比例して連動する」感じは the ... the ... 構文の専売です。しかも get better more は語順としても壊れています。「するほど…」と言いたくなったら、この専用構文に乗り換えてください。
The if-version gets close in meaning, but the wired-together proportionality belongs to the the … the … pattern — and "get better more" breaks word order anyway. When Japanese 〜するほど comes to mind, switch to the dedicated frame.
