no は名詞の前に置く語で、単独では立てません。none は単独で立てる代名詞。nothing / nobody / no one も代名詞です。使い分けの基準は「後ろに名詞が続くか」だけ。no money(名詞が続く)、None of them came.(名詞が続かない)。そして No one of them とは言わず、None of them と言います。
No goes in front of a noun and can't stand alone. None is a pronoun that stands by itself, and so are nothing, nobody, and no one. The test is simply whether a noun follows: no money has one, "None of them came" doesn't. And English says none of them, never no one of them.

no は名詞に寄りかかる語なので、必ず相棒を連れています。no money / no time / no students。一方 none はそれ自体で名詞のかたまりとして働くので、相棒は要りません。of を挟んで範囲を示すこともできます。nothing はモノ、nobody と no one は人を指す代名詞で、これらも単独で立ちます。
No leans on a noun, so it always brings a partner: no money, no time, no students. None works as a noun chunk in its own right, so it needs no partner, though it can take of to mark a range. Nothing covers things, while nobody and no one cover people, and all three stand on their own.

none は単独で答えになる。no ではこの返事はできない。None can be the whole answer. No can't do this on its own.
No one knew where he hadこの文の組み立て【過去完了】過去のある時点を基準にして、それより前に起きたことを言う形。話の中で時間を一段さかのぼるときに使う。gone.
彼がどこへ行ったか、誰も知らなかった。
no one が主語。単数扱いで knew。動詞は肯定形のまま。No one is the subject, treated as singular, and the verb stays positive.
no(名詞が続く)
限定詞なので単独では立てない。後ろに必ず名詞が要る。A determiner, so it can't stand alone. A noun has to follow.
I have no complaints.
不満はありません。
none(名詞が続かない)
代名詞なので単独で立つ。範囲を示すときは of を挟む。A pronoun, so it stands alone, taking of when you want to mark a range.
None of the machines were working.
機械はどれも動いていなかった。
よくある間違い / Common Mistake
×No one of the applicants had the right experience.
応募者の中に、必要な経験を持つ人はいなかった。(のつもりで)
○None of the applicants had the right experience.

no one に of を続けることはできません。of で範囲を絞るのは none の役目です。no one は範囲を示さずに「誰も」とだけ言う語なので、No one had the right experience. のように単独で使います。人にもモノにも使える none のほうが守備範囲は広く、of と組めるのはこちらだけだと覚えてください。なお no one を noone と続けて書くことはありません。アメリカ英語では2語の no one、イギリス英語ではハイフンを入れた no-one もよく使われます。どちらでも構いませんが、1つの文書の中では統一してください。
No one doesn't take of. Narrowing a range with of is none's job. No one simply says nobody at all, as in "No one had the right experience." None covers both people and things and is the only one of the pair that pairs with of. Also, noone is not an English spelling. American English writes two words, no one; British English often hyphenates it as no-one. Either is fine, but stay consistent within a document.
none of your businessあなたには関係ないでしょnone + of の定型。強い拒絶なので相手を選ぶ。A set none-of phrase. It's a firm brush-off, so pick your moment.
nothing much特に何も「何してた?」への軽い返し。nothing を単独で使う型。The easy reply to what have you been up to. Nothing standing alone.
no one elseほかに誰もelse を添えて範囲を「その人以外」に広げる。Adding else extends the reach to everyone but the person named.
nothing but ...〜のほかは何も／〜ばかりbut が「〜を除いて」なので、結果として「〜だけ」になる。Here but means except, so the phrase ends up meaning only.
