いものはろへ() Heavy Things Go Last

調 Word Order & Emphasis

くていものをろにきたがります。To find a good apartment in Tokyo within this budget is difficult. は文法にはしいのですが、にたどりくまでたされます。だから it をてて、ろへります。It is difficult to find a good apartment … です。

English likes to put long, heavy material at the end of a sentence. "To find a good apartment in Tokyo within this budget is difficult" is perfectly grammatical, but it keeps the reader waiting for the verb. So a placeholder it takes the subject seat and the heavy part moves back: "It is difficult to find a good apartment …"

骨組みをりたい

Readers Want the Frame First

むとき、はまずします。骨組みがかってめて、められるからです。いと、その骨組みがのきます。it をいて骨組みをせ、からす。これがです。発想にもき、I found it difficult to explain. のようにてます。

When people read, they look first for the subject and the verb. Only once the frame is in place can they take in the detail. A long subject pushes that frame further away. Setting down an it shows the frame immediately and hands over the detail afterwards, which is the placeholder's whole job. The same instinct works on objects, giving shapes like "I found it difficult to explain."

ろへ Sending the weight back

It is difficult to find a なぜ a なのか めてつ】 がまだらないものをめてすから a。じものをすときは the にわる。 flat this close to める 【close to = 〜にい】 close to の to は「〜へ」ではなく「〜にして」。near はなので near the station とつながるが、close はなので to がる。 the なぜ the なのか まった the station / the bus のように、で「あのつ」にまる便す。 station.

いものが(みにくい)

文法にはしいが、までく、たされる。 Grammatical, but the verb is far away and the reader waits.

よくある Common Mistake

I gave to the students who had passed the certificates.

したした。(のつもりで)

したした。

たせいで、the certificates がされたです。は who had passed のろにるのかできず、までてようやく「したのはだった」とかります。に、ろにけば、このがなくなります。さのべる、とえてください。さはしていません。

The long prepositional phrase has gone first, stranding the certificates at the very end. The reader can't predict what follows who had passed and only learns at the last moment what was handed over. Put the short object first and the long phrase last and the wait disappears. Order by weight, and word count is a fine way to judge it.
